Texins offers a variety of group and private swim lessons from age 6 months to adults

Youth Swim Offerings

Class Times: Group sessions start the first Monday & Wednesday evenings.

Cost:  Member - $40   (4/30 minute sessions)

            Non-Member - $55 (4/30 minute sessions)

  • Student to Teacher ratio is 4:1 – Class time is 25 minutes.

    Level 1 - Tadpole: This introductory class is for children who are new to swimming or nervous in the water. Our goal is to develop confidence, breath control and proper body position with instructor assistance. Positive reinforcement is critical to help the child build trust and confidence. Graduates will be able to safely enter and exit the pool, do relaxed bobs, front and back floats for 3 seconds, rollovers, and swim 2 body lengths.

    Level 2 - Turtle: This level is for children who have graduated from the Tadpole level. This level focuses on learning basic stroke technique, improving floating, and introducing treading water. Graduates will be able to retrieve a submerged object from chest-deep water, tread water for 15 seconds, front and back floats for 15 seconds, front and back glides, swim on front and back for 3 body lengths, and swim-float-swim 6 body lengths.

    Level 3 - Seal: This level is for children who have graduated the Turtle level. Graduates will be able to tread water for 30 seconds, front and back floats for 15 seconds, change direction of travel in open water, swim on front and back for 5 body lengths, and swim-float-swim 10 body lengths.

  • Student to Teacher ratio is 8:1 – Class time is 25 minutes.

    Level 1 - Stingray: This level is to build confidence and learn water safety skills by introducing participants to basic swim skills. Graduates will be able to safely enter and exit the pool, submerge with controlled breathing, kick on their front and backs, float for 5 seconds, rollovers, elementary backstroke, and swim 2 body lengths on front and back.

    Level 2 - Otter: This level focuses on refining skills learned in the Stingray level, and introduces new skills such as swim-float-swim, trading water, breaststroke and rotary/side breathing. Graduates will be able to kick on their front and back 15 yards, float for 15 seconds, tread water for 15 seconds, swim 15 yards of backstroke, and swim 15 yards of freestyle stroke with side breathing.

    Level 3 - Dolphin: In this level, an emphasis on refining skills learned in the Otter level, as well as introducing starts, turns, and dives. Graduates will be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, 15 yards of butterfly, and be able to tread water for 1-2 minutes.

    Stroke Development (6-17 years): The stroke development class is for students who have completed the Level 3 Dolphin course. This level focuses on refining strokes so participants swim them with greater efficiency and effectiveness over longer distances. Students will also be taught about the competitive world of swimming including competitive starts, turns, and specific stroke techniques. Graduates will be able to swim 100 yards freestyle, 50 yards backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, and be able to tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.

  • The Parent Child class is an interactive class designed for young children to gain confidence in and around the water. Emphasis is placed on learning through fun by using songs, games and colorful equipment. We introduce the following skills: floating, breath control, gentle submersions, survival skills and learning tips and tricks. Parents are required to participate in the water with their child during the class so come prepared to get wet and have fun.

 

Group Youth Swimming Lessons

These lessons are designed for 3 year olds and up, all skill levels
Group Lessons: Minimum of three participants in each group, not to exceed six


Group Adult Swimming Lessons

This group setting is for beginners and swimmers seeking to improve their stroke
Designed for: Adults 18 years and older

Group Lessons: 3 or more in a group session, includes initial evaluation and action plan for the group

Times:   Monday & Wednesday 5:50 p.m. - 6:20 p.m.
Classes and schedules can be created to accommodate the schedule of a group

Classes meet twice a week for a month.  Total meetings -  8


Private Swim Lessons

Please schedule a swim assessment in advance.  A swim program will be created to meet your goals based on your assessment. Al classes are 30 minutes long.


Semi-Private Swim Lessons (2 in the group)

All lessons are thirty minutes long.
